Man accused of attacking nephew with tree limb

A man accused of attacking his nephew and another man in Central Islip yesterday says he was simply trying to defend himself. Christopher Wright, 27, says he was working in his yard when his nephew, 30-year-old Ushian James, and a friend of James came after him with a machete and a stick. Wright says he used a tree limb to fend the men off. Police say Wright hit James with the tree limb and that James is now in critical condition. Wright is accused of first-degree assault.
