Helicopter noise set to depart from North Shore
A little more peace and quiet is on the way for residents on the North Shore. Helicopters flying from New York City to the Hamptons will now be required to move out at least 2,500 feet over the Long Island Sound. The noise from the helicopters prompted complaints from thousands of residents from the Town of North Hempstead to the North Fork. Sen. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) today said the new rules should go into effect by July 4.
