Court rejects John White's appeal in fatal shooting

(AP) - A state appeals court has upheld themanslaughter conviction of a black New Yorker who shot a whiteteenager during a racially charged confrontation. A panel of four judges concluded that a Long Island jury wasjustified in finding John White guilty in the August 2006 shootingof Daniel Cicciaro Jr. Cicciaro and some friends had been feuding with White's son,Aaron. Several carloads drove to the Whites' Miller Place home toconfront the teen. When they arrived, both father and son went tothe end of their driveway with weapons. During the dispute, the elder White's handgun went off, killingCicciaro. White's appeal cited several legal arguments, all of which wererejected by the court. His attorney says White is disappointed andhis legal team is examining their options.
