Nassau County looks into new parking meters

Nassau County says it is looking into a new parking meter system to help bring more money to the county.

The county estimates that only 40 percent of its 163 parking meters work.

County Executive Ed Mangano says he's looking into a replacement system called Muni-Meters.

Mangano says one Muni-Meter would replace eight regular meters and that it accepts coins and credit cards.

According to Mangano, each Muni-Meter costs about $6,000 and would quickly pay for itself.
