Hearings to begin on Nassau's budget plan

A series of hearings is set to begin in Nassau today regarding County Executive Ed Mangano's controversial $2.6 billion budget plan.

Nassau County's budget watchdog agency NIFA says the plan relies too heavily on borrowing and pushes off too much of the debt cost to the future.

Some officials say they're worried the new budget contains a projected $133 million in red ink.

Mangano says he's doing the best he can.
