Nearly 100 cars vandalized in Nassau

Police say nearly 100 cars in five of Nassau?s South Shore communities were smashed by vandals over the weekend.

Nassau County police say the vandalism occurred between 11 p.m. Saturday and 5 a.m. Sunday in Wantagh, Bellmore, North Bellmore, Merrick and North Merrick. The culprits used some kind of blunt object to smash fenders, mirrors, windows and windshields.

Police say a group of youths on a rampage are responsible for all the damage and that nothing was stolen from the cars.

Police ask anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
