Officials: Crooked landscaper cuts funds, not grass

A West Islip man claiming to be a landscaper is being investigated for allegedly bilking customers out of tens of thousands of dollars and not doing an ounce of work.

Carl Correa, who also goes by ?Carlos? or ?Chuck,? is on Suffolk County?s consumer affairs list of top 10 contractors to avoid.

Suffolk Consumer Affairs Commissioner Denis McElligott says Correa had his landscaping license revoked in 2003 for taking money and not finishing jobs or not doing any work at all.

Correa has more than 20 complaints filed against him, according to McElligot.

The Suffolk district attorney is also investigating the claims against Correa.
