Stunt pilot flies for dad killed on TWA Flight 800
A Melville stunt pilot is among the few invited to perform at the Bethpage Federal Credit Union Air Show and his life story is just as unique as his skill.
David Windmiller says he has never taken an aerobatic flight lesson in his life. Instead, he says he developed the talent on his own.
Windmiller is a 46-year-old father of five and has been flying since he was 14. He says he hid flying lessons from his father for years. When he started flying solo at 16, Windmiller?s father found out. The two started flying together soon after.
Windmiller?s father was killed when TWA Flight 800 crashed off Long Island in 1996. Windmiller says he dedicates his flying to his father.
