Student snaps photo of bus driver texting at the wheel

A bus driver in the Half Hollow Hills district has been pulled off her routes after allegedly texting while driving.

Eighth-grader Melissa Distante says she took pictures of the bus driver texting with her own phone this morning and sent them to her father. Her father then called the school district to complain. He says it took numerous phone calls to the driver?s bus company to get the driver off the road.

The bus company manager tells News 12 Long Island the matter is under investigation and the driver will no longer be transporting students.

Distante says a different driver drove her school bus home this afternoon.
