Dowling President Robert Gaffney retires

Dowling College President Robert Gaffney has announced that he's retiring, effective immediately. Gaffney had recently said he would retire at the end of the 2010-2011 academic year. Gaffney says he moved up the retirement date because of family and personal considerations. Gaffney has served as the college's president since October 2006. He previously served as Suffolk County executive for more than a decade. The College Board of Trustees has named Board Chairman Scott Rudolph as interim college president.
