Jones Beach draws record crowds for holiday weekend

Jones Beach saw record crowds this holiday weekend.

Beachgoers fought for towel space today because of the sunny skies and warm temperatures, but officials say the water was a chilly 62 degrees.

Officials say 356,000 people flocked to Jones Beach to watch the Bethpage Federal Credit Union Air Show. By 11 a.m. Sunday, parking lots were filled to capacity and many drivers were turned away.

Those in the audience say the air show was worth contending with the crowds.
