Residents disappointed by meeting on sex offender housing

More than 100 parents attended a meeting tonight to hear elected officials discuss a plan to rid the Westhampton Beach neighborhood of a nearby trailer for homeless sex offenders.

Officials and residents have said over the last several months that other towns in Suffolk County should share the responsibility of housing the 25 sex offenders.

Some legislators have suggested giving the homeless sex offenders vouchers to stay at various hotels throughout the county, but that plan has also met criticism.

Most residents at the meeting say they left disappointed by the lack of answers given tonight.
