Nursery school director accused of theft

A former nursery school director is accused of stealing tens of thousands of dollars from the Levittown school she headed for 15 years.

Gail Vokoun, 58, allegedly stole $41,000 from the pre-school at the First Presbyterian Church of Levittown. Police say she wrote herself checks from the school?s bank account and used them to pay bills, property taxes and hotel charges.

A member of the church's clergy suspected she was stealing and confronted her and then she resigned according to authorities.

The theft went on between August 2007 and September 2009, according to police. Vokoun is facing grand larceny charges.
