New Hyde Park man arrested for allegedly setting fire at his home

A New Hyde Park man has been arrested for allegedly setting a fire at his home after a fight with his stepson. Police say Joseph Sorrentino, 72, used matches to ignite a bed on the second floor of his Lawrence Street home earlier yesterday. Officials say there was extensive damage to the home and 50 firefighters were needed to contain the blaze. Sorrentino is charged with third-degree arson. No injuries were reported.
