Authorities removed a hand grenade and reopened several roadways in East Meadow yesterday.

Arson and bomb squad investigators were called to Merrick Avenue between Hempstead Turnpike and Charles Lindbergh Boulevard in East Meadow about 6 p.m.

A passing motorist had spotted the grenade on a sidewalk.
