Family: Jones Beach body ID'd as missing swimmer

The body that washed ashore at Jones Beach yesterday has been identified as 22-year-old Theodore Eugene, of Queens, according to the man?s family.

Eugene was swept out by the surf while swimming May 26 at Jones Beach, his family says. His body washed up near the mall around 5 p.m.

Eugene's brother says state police identified the remains using fingerprints and that the family won?t make funeral arrangements until tomorrow.

The U.S. Coast Guard ended the rescue efforts 18 hours after Eugene went missing saying the 50-degree waters made survival highly unlikely.
