Veteran reporter under fire over exchange with LI rabbi

Helen Thomas, a veteran White House reporter, issued an apology today for telling a Long Island rabbi that Jews should "get the hell out of Palestine" and return to Poland and Germany.

Thomas, 89, made the comments in response to a question asked by Rabbi David Nesenoff, of Stony Brook, at a White House event last week.

Nesenoff says he was so appalled by the reporter's words that he posted the video of the exchange online.

Thomas later issued a statement saying she deeply regrets her comments. However, Nesenoff says Thomas needs to do more.

"She now has to become the poster child about the history of the Middle East," he says.
