Levy criticized for filling out state financial disclosure form

The presiding officer of the Suffolk County Legislature William Lindsay claims Suffolk County Executive Steve Levy has filled out the incorrect financial disclosure form since 2006.

According to Newsday, detectives from the Suffolk County district attorney's government corruption bureau subpoenaed records related to disclosure to see if anyone filed a form different from the one required by law.

Levy says he has filled out a state disclosure form, as opposed to a county one, every year since 2006 with the approval of the county ethics committee. Critics say the three members of the ethics committee were either appointed by or recommended by Levy.

Lindsay says the county disclosure form is much more specific and includes names of real estate partners and bank account balances. According to Levy, however, he included all of his financial information on the state form.
