Man accused of strangling woman pleads not guilty
A Medford man accused of strangling a prostitute pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder today.
Police say Chad Johnson, 22, hired Jennifer Papain, of North Patchogue, on Craigslist in March and agreed to pay her for sex.
Officials say when Papain wouldn't give him his money back, he allegedly killed her and dumped her body in the woods on the side of the Long Island Expressway.
According to authorities, Johnson told them where the body was buried. In addition to the homicide charge, Johnson is charged with patronizing a prostitute, driving without a license and possession of marijuana.
