Police: Man tells cops he was driving 130 mph on LIE
A Syosset man was charged with felony DWI yesterday after allegedly speeding in his Maserati while drunk.
Police say officers pulled over Joseph Carbone at around 3 a.m. on the Long Island Expressway in Plainview after they clocked him driving 110 mph. According to Det. Lt. Kevin Smith, Carbone told an officer he was actually driving more than 130 mph and that the officer should "check his equipment."
Since Carbone has already had two drunken driving convictions in the past 10 years, DWI charges were upgraded to a felony, authorities say.
