LI brain injury victims celebrate progress

Some Long Islanders recovering from serious brain injuries through North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System celebrated their progress today at a prom.

About 50 members of the Transitions of Long Island program in Manhasset dressed up for the elegant party, which featured live music.

Dr. Jean Elbaum, who is the director of the program, says the prom is an important event because it highlights clients' progress and recovery while building self-esteem, hope and inspiration.
