2 LI teens accused of animal cruelty

Two Suffolk County teens are accused of torturing a helpless turtle to death this evening.

Police say Roark Xanthos, of Bellport, and Thomas Gorman, of East Patchogue, both 18, set the turtle on fire and stabbed the animal in a backyard in Bellport.

Karen Feit, the homeowner who found the turtle, tells News 12 Long Island the two teens tried to give the turtle to her son. Feit says her son refused and the two teens waited until no one was home before they tortured the turtle in her make shift fire pit.

Xanthos and Gorman have been charged with animal cruelty and criminal trespass.
