10 school district budget revotes to be held Tuesday

Residents in 10 school districts will go to the polls tomorrow to vote on budgets that failed the first time around.

Officials from all 10 districts say they have reworked the numbers and made cuts in order to get the budgets approved.

In Westbury, school employees have been told to brace for 500 possible layoffs. The Wyandanch Union Free School District has pared down its budget, but also plans to cut 15 teachers jobs regardless of the revote.

In East Rockaway, teachers will pay more for health insurance in order to save money. In addition, Port Jefferson won't hire an elementary school assistant principal and the Herricks school district has cut the budget for music and computer equipment.

Garden City, Levittown, West Hempstead, Elwood and West Babylon are also holding revotes.
