Huntington residents sign petition to bring back tap water

The Huntington Town Board received a petition today filled with signatures of residents who want to drink their local tap water again. The petition was in response to the Suffolk County Health Department issuing a letter saying the Cold Spring Harbor spring should be ?permanently eliminated as a potential water source to ensure the protection of public health.?

News 12 Long Island had water samples taken and tested. The testing showed the spring water had more nitrates than other drinking water, but is officially safe to drink.

Residents say the town should just pay to regulate it. The town says a meeting with the county will be held in two weeks.
