Some LI residents boycott BP gas stations after oil spill

As millions of gallons of oil pours into the Gulf of Mexico daily, some Long Island residents are taking a stand and boycotting BP gas stations.

However, many residents may be unaware that most BP gas stations are privately owned. By boycotting their local gas stations, they are hurting their local economy and not just the large corporation.

Paul Stoll, owner of a BP gas station in Hauppauge, says gas isn't his top moneymaker, however it still brings in customers and he worries how the boycott will affect his business.

Currently the "Boycott BP" Facebook page has more than 600,000 members.
