LI man: In-vitro fertilization created 3 miracles

A Rockville Centre man who never thought he would be a father says he's ecstatic to celebrate his fifth Father's Day on Sunday.

Ken Kunken, who was paralyzed while playing football nearly 40 years ago, used in-vitro fertilization with his wife, Anna, to have their triplets, Joey, Jimmy and Timothy.

Kunken says he never thought he would be a father due to his paralysis, but medical technology made his dream come true.

Dr. Bruce Gilbert, of North Shore-LIJ, was able to harvest Kunken's sperm to inseminate his wife via in-vitro fertilization. It took the Kunkens about a year and a half to get pregnant.

"Every day I look at my boys, I see three miracles," Kunken says.
