Police: 11-year-old boy drowns in Bay Shore pool

Relatives and friends are mourning the loss of an 11-year-old boy who detectives say drowned while swimming unsupervised at a friend's pool in Bay Shore yesterday.

According to authorities, Tre-Zon P'Lindor was visiting a friend's home when he went swimming in the pool without adult supervision at around 1 p.m. Relatives say the boy who lives at the house told P'Lindor they weren't allowed to go swimming without his parents home.

Adriana Herrera, an eighth-grader whose cousins live at the home, says she ran to the house after her cousin called her and helped the boy out of the water. Then she and others tried to get him breathing.

Police say P'Lindor didn't know how to swim and his friend thought he was fooling around when he first showed signs of distress.
