E. Northport affordable housing plan moving forward

Residents voiced opposition to a planned affordable housing development in East Northport at a meeting last.

The 155-unit development planned for 15-acres on the corner of Pulaski and Elwood roads has been in the works for decades.

During the meeting at Northport High School, residents said they fear the housing complex would negatively impact traffic and the school district.

The Town of Huntington took the property owners to court over the plan, but lost and was ordered to rezone the land.

Town officials say Housing Help Inc. still needs to secure funding for the project and have sewage plans approved before the plan can move forward.
