Police to crack down on house parties in Nassau

Nassau police announced the formation of a "party patrol" yesterday to crack down on house parties in the county.

Police say the decision to increase patrols came after two deadly party shootings last weekend in Uniondale and in Lakeview. In addition, authorities say residents tend to hold large parties this time of year in celebration of graduations and the end of school.

Police say a team of officers has been assembled to search out large gatherings and keep them under control on Fridays and Saturdays. Investigators say they will also monitor social networking sites, such as Facebook and Twitter, for leads on large parties.
