Hewlett Little Leaguers forced to forfeit
A team of Hewlett Little Leaguers is devastated after they were forced to forfeit a playoff game this week.
Despite winning the first round of the playoffs, the Hewlett-Woodmere Mets were unable to attend the next playoff game because of a mandatory concert at school. Parents say their children were forced to choose between education and baseball.
The Mets' coach and the coach for the opposing team were unable to find a date that worked for both teams, so the Little League commissioner declared a forfeit.
Despite losing a chance to win the championship, the players were invited by the New York Yankees to attend a game.
