Police: Kids likely behind prolific car vandalism

Police say the vandals who hit 90 cars on Long Island last month caused thousands of dollars worth of damage.

The vandals are accused of smashing up cars in Wantagh, Bellmore, North Bellmore, Merrick and North Merrick.

Authorities say, based on two solid leads and surveillance video, they think neighborhood kids are behind the crimes.

?I've been a police officer for 28 years and have never seen this much damage to that many cars in such a small period of time,? Sgt. William Cary says.

Anyone with information is asked to call Nassau Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
