World Cup fever spreads across Long Island

World Cup fever arrived on Long Island today as Team USA pulled out a win over Algeria.

Just three minutes away from elimination, Team USA captain Landon Donovan scored the winning goal off a rebound to give the U.S. a 1-0 victory. It was the first win for the Team USA in eight years.

"[It was] absolutely one of the most enjoyable, gut-wrenching, fabulous sporting events I think I ever witnessed on television,? Jim Macken, of Plainview, says.

Some sporting goods stores were already nearly sold out of Team USA jerseys.

Team USA will be back on the field Saturday.
