Suffolk lawmaker to visit Lucero hometown

Officials say a Suffolk lawmaker visiting the home of a murdered Ecuadorian immigrant is not expected to receive a warm welcome.

Newsday says Patchogue Mayor Paul Pontieri is in Marcelo Lucero's hometown in Ecuador today.

Lucero was stabbed to death in Patchogue in 2008 in a hate crime attack.

Officials say Lucero's family will not be meeting the mayor because they feel he betrayed the family by arranging for County Executive Steve Levy to attend a service for Lucero.

The family considers Levy an "anti-immigrant."
