LI man accused of shooting boxer pleads not guilty

The man accused of shooting a popular North Bellport boxer was arraigned yesterday.

Suspected gunman Rasalaam Jackson was charged with six counts of assault and weapons possession. He pleaded not guilty.

Police say Olympic alternate Adam Willett was shot in the stomach as he tried to help two teens being harassed in a parking lot in April.

Willett is recovering from the shooting and says he still has the bullet lodged in his spine.

If convicted, Jackson faces eight to 25 years in prison.

A teen from East Patchogue will also face charges.
