Small plane lands at Robert Moses State Park

Police say a small plane landed today at Robert Moses State Park and the pilot is being hailed a hero. Click "NEXT" to watch Chopper 12 video of the plane.The plane landed in the dune area near the boardwalk at Field 5 of the state park at around 5:25 p.m.Officials say the pilot, who witnesses described as an elderly man, reported having an issue with power on the plane and made a distress call.Beachgoers who saw the landing say they immediately rushed over to help. They say the pilot was bleeding from his forehead and credit him for landing the plane without injuring anyone on the beach.The pilot was taken to Stony Brook Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
