Cops: 2 people found dead in Elmont home

? Police say two people found dead inside a home on Melrose Street in Elmont yesterday morning appeared to have died of heroin overdoses.

According to police, the 20-year-old man and 22-year-old woman were found in the basement of the home.

?There were obvious signs of drug use, drug paraphernalia scattered around the room- mainly heroin and instruments to use heroin,? Nassau Det. Sgt. Frank Galgano says.

However, police say they aren?t jumping to any conclusions. They are awaiting toxicology reports for an exact cause of death.

Neighbors tell News 12 Long Island there are often police at the house.
