Police: All hands on deck for Eisenhower Park fireworks

? Nassau police are making extra preparations for the Fourth of July fireworks at Eisenhower State Park this year in anticipation of larger crowds.

Since the fireworks display at Jones Beach is canceled this year, parks officials are expecting even more of an audience. They say the park is expected to fill to its 25,000-person capacity quickly.

Nassau County Police Chief Robert Turk says extra patrols will be out on the road to direct traffic. A chopper will also be on hand to catch any traffic jams. Turk says additional parking will be made available at shopping centers along Hempstead Turnpike, the Cradle of Aviation Museum and Nassau Community College.

Turk says the best place to see the show is on the east side of Nassau Community College.

Officials say those who stop or pull over on the Meadowbrook Parkway to watch the fireworks could face a fine or even be arrested.
