Soldier from LI rides 100 miles to fight cancer

A soldier from Wantagh who fought in Iraq and Afghanistan rode his bike from Babylon to Montauk last month with others to fight against cancer.

Sgt. Ryan McCrory participated in the June 19 Leukemia and Lymphoma Society bike ride months after returning from overseas.

McCrory says he rode the 100 miles on behalf of his friend who died in Afghanistan as well as his grandfather and mother, both of whom have battled cancer.

"He watched me go through my business in fighting cancer and now I get to watch him battle for cancer,? McCrory?s mother Joy Parisi says.

McCrory plans to ride another 100 miles for the cause in Utah this fall.
