Storm-battered beaches back in business

The beaches of Robert Moses State Park are back in business this summer after being decimated by several nor?easters this winter.

Parks officials say this winter was the worst in years for beach erosion and they considered closing the east end of Robert Moses.

?It was amazing so much sand was taken in so short a time,? New York State Parks Deputy Regional Director George Gorman says.

In April though, the federal government brought in 200,000 cubic yards of sand to replenish the beach.

Those who frequent Robert Moses say it is a relief to see the beach restored to its previous glory.
