Selden girl rescued from swimming pool

A Selden girl nearly drowned in her backyard swimming pool Saturday afternoon before her father pulled her from the water, police say.

Fire officials say she was not breathing when she was removed from the pool. They say her father performed CPR and she began to spit up water and started breathing again.

The girl was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital as a precaution.

Firefighters are warning parents to keep an eye on anyone in the water this holiday weekend.
