Teen killed in crash with ambulance in Brentwood

A teenager was killed last night in Brentwood after a collision involving an ambulance.

Daryn McKay, 18, was riding in a 1993 Saturn with three other teenagers at around 11:30 p.m. when the vehicles collided. Authorities say the ambulance tried to pass the teens on the left when the Saturn attempted a sharp turn.

McKay was taken to Southside Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The ambulance was en route to another accident and being driven by 21-year-old volunteer Marlon Chavarria, who was also hospitalized.

The accident is under investigation. No criminal charges have been filed.
