Brush fire breaks out on Ocean Parkway

Ocean Parkway was shut down for hours yesterday while firefighters fought a brush fire at Cedar Beach. Click "NEXT" to see Chopper 12 footage at the scene. Fire officials say the quick-moving brush fire was sparked on the parkway median and then jumped over the westbound lanes into the wooded area on the north side.

No injuries were reported, but beach traffic was snarled for hours along Ocean Parkway and the Robert Moses Causeway. Fire officials say the traffic congestion hindered their response.

Fire officials say four fire departments spent two hours battling the fire, which was located about three miles west of Robert Moses Causeway.
