LIPA: No power outage threat despite heat wave

There is plenty of power to go around the Island, Long Island Power Authority CEO Kevin Law is assuring customers.

Law says that despite the high electricity demand today, there is currently no threat of power outages. However, he says customers should still consider conserving electricity, especially during peak usage times.

?[Customers] should use their major appliances in the morning and late in the evening,? Law says. ?They can be running their pool filters in the evening, not in the middle of the day.? Law emphasizes the situation may change when people go back to work tomorrow and Long Island?s offices will be powered up.
