LIPA looking to avoid possible brownouts

LIPA is urging Long Island residents to set air conditioners on low today.

The company says it is trying to avoid possible brownouts but says there is plenty of power to go around.

Just to be safe, LIPA officials are asking customers to conserve electricity during peak use times.

LIPA suggests running major appliances and pool filters in the morning and late evening instead of the middle of the day.

Power during this heat wave is expected to peak by Thursday but should not leave anyone in the dark.
