Passengers angry over LIRR holiday weekend delays
? Officials say thousands of people took the train to the Hamptons this holiday weekend but many riders say the railroad was not prepared for the crowds.
The Long Island Rail Road reported delays of nearly two hours in Bridgehampton Monday night.
Now Newsday is blaming the backup on packed platforms and a 34 percent increase in the number of passengers riding the rails.
The commuter?s council says the railroad should have done more to prepare for the holiday weekend crowds.
