Heat wave set to break, high temps still causing problems

The heat wave may be about to break but the high temperatures are still causing problems on Long Island.

A brush fire broke out at Cold Spring Harbor State Park yesterday morning. Officials say strong winds and dry conditions caused the fire to spread fast. There have been a series of brush fires over the past three days.

In addition, LIPA says record temperatures are stressing the power grid. There were reported outages on Main Street in Farmingdale and Floral Park.

A stage one water alert has been issued in Southampton and a water emergency has been issued for the town of Riverhead.

Nassau and Suffolk residents have been asked to conserve the water.
