Pretrial hearings begin for ex-Southampton town supervisor
Pretrial hearings got under way this afternoon in the DWI trial of Southampton's former Town Supervisor Linda Kabot.
Kabot lost her re-election bid in November after being charged with drunken driving last Labor Day.
During the hearing, a videotape of Kabot's field sobriety test was viewed. Officer Ryan Lucas, who pulled Kabot over, testified that Kabot failed the test and refused to take a Breathalyzer test.
Kabot admitted in the video she had two glasses of wine at a party. But her attorney is challenging the tape and questioning why there are three minutes of video missing after the test.
The district attorney was asked to investigate claims that Kabot was the victim of a pre-election conspiracy.
Testimony in the pretrial hearings is expected to continue Tuesday.
