Suffolk Exec. Levy takes aim at report on wife's business dealings

Suffolk County Executive Steve Levy is used to taking heat in the press, but tonight his wife is involved also.Newsday is reporting that firms owned by Colleen West received work from businesses - that have been paid millions of dollars in county contracts. Suffolk's financial disclosure form requires county officials to reveal private financial dealings - including those of a spouse. Levy did not fill out the COUNTY form, but did fill out a STATE form that requires less information. Levy says the county ethics commission told him the state form was good enough - and that there was no conflict so long as his wife did not accept business directly from the county. Levy also points out his wife filled out her own state disclosure form. He called the Newsday story inaccurate. Statement by spokesman for Suffolk County Executive Levy
