Police probe string of break-ins at movie theater

Long Islanders are being warned about parking at a popular movie theater in Westbury following a string of car break-ins.

Officials say 10 vehicles have been broken into over the past few days at the United Artists Theater on Brush Hollow Road. One vehicle was stolen.

Police say the thieves took GPS devices, iPods and purses.

"They know that the patrons will be in theater for two hours, so it's a good opportunity for someone to break into a car," says Detective Sgt. Anthony Repalone, of the Nassau County Police Department.

Although police believe it was an isolated incident, they now plan to have undercover officers patrolling the parking lot.
