Teen shot in the leg in Huntington Station

? Police are searching for the person who shot a teen in the leg on a Suffolk street.

The incident happened early yesterday morning near Town Street and Allison Court in Huntington Station.

Police say a 16-year-old girl had just left a party where several small fights had broken out. Someone fired several shots, police say, and the teen was caught in the crossfire and took a bullet in the leg.

Officials say the shooting happened near Jack Abrams School. The area has been the scene of four suspected gang-related shootings recently.

Leg. Jon Cooper (D-Huntington) blames County Executive Steve Levy, who he says has put money above public safety by authorizing less overtime. Levy, meanwhile, says his administration has added more officers in the area.
